Notes from the Housing Committee meeting on October 20, 2004:

Mission Statement: Beautify the "Foster Your Neighborhood" neighborhood, understand the compliance process, and encourage positive changes in the housing environment.

Chairperson: Vince Villegas
Secretary: Janet L. Munn

Will meet third Tuesday each month at 7:00 PM (day before Foster Your Neighborhood general meeting), beginning with November 16, Tuesday, at Vince Villegas' home at 128 North Magnolia (house with tall hedges).

[Because Vince is Chair of the Housing Committee, he should probably serve on the Board, rather than me (Janet Munn). I don't have a problem with this.]

Issues for the Committee to address:

1. Rental properties, including maintenance; number of increased rental properties, including student rentals; and beautify neighborhood, including getting assistance from neighbors to help others with this.

2. Get copies of compliance codes, including rental codes.

3. North Fairview - beautification needed and identify which properties are rentals and resident owned.

4. Learn entire process of code compliance, including rental, upkeep, noise, etc. What are the rules, how are they enforced, etc.

5. Rental and code compliance. Persons in noncompliance need to be ticketed.

6. Concern about red tagged houses.
