Board Members Present: Brian Baer, Marti Wheeler, Jane Warren, Jennie Gies,Sue Nehf, and Robin Goodwin.
7:02 PM Call to order. Introductions were made. Meeting minutes approved with a correction of the time (Apr. meeting).
Reports:
Officer Lindeman:
For the last 30 days:
Domestic violence on N. Magnolia
Damaged property on N. Francis
Interference with phone lines/domestic disturbance
Motor vehicle theft on 2100 block of E. Michigan Ave
25 burglaries in red-tagged homes in the area- stealing copper pipes/damage. Call police if anything unusual is seen.
Code Compliance- Zuk
108 Kipling- unmowed lawn
100 block of Fairview- unmowed lawn
Have 7 days to mow if notified by Code Compliance- then the city does so and charges the resident
No City Council report.
President’s Report:
City Budget is being determined
Negotiating with the unions due to $3 M imbalance
Downtown development
High-rise going in where the Lansing Economic Club used to be
The city may buy Boarshead Theatre to create a parking lot- not soon
City Market- still in the planning stage
Vice President’s Report:
Sue attended the LNC board meeting May 8.
7/11 board positions have been filled
Mayor’s Grants announced
May 18: Neighborhood Pride Week
Flower Program- Land Bank- need resources
May 23 is deadline for newsletter ads
Have the Mobile Food Pantry in Lansing
Lansing Civic Players garage sale June 14 at 10 am
Treasurer’s Report:
$223.13 as of May 21 with additional $100 for the picnic
Immediate Past President’s Report:
Lansing Police Department Citizen Observer- a website that will let you obtain a list f crimes and info by precinct. Can get a detailed report. See citizenobserver.com
See “Design Lansing” brochure for the City Master Plan
Membership Committee:
Judi asked if there was a response from the petitions sent in to the mayor’s office. No one has heard from R. Adzt yet. We still need to take brochures to the northern section of the neighborhood.
Quality of Life Committee:
Jane- good turnout for Sat May 17 cleanup of the garden beds. More work needs to be done this Saturday- from 9-12
Need some perennials and some annuals
Need help watering for the month of June
Next “restaurant of the month” will be at the Farmer’s Market on June 25 at 5 PM
Next QoL meeting June 3 at Gone Wired
Continuing Business:
Saginaw/Oakland corridor- City Master Plan encompasses this area
There will be a meeting May 22 at 6 PM at Pattengill
New Business:
Marti suggested that we make a donation to Paint a Place in honor of Monica Dungy
Brian suggested that we give $40 to QoL for flowers for the Foster beds
