Quality of Life January 2005 Notes

Our committee meeting is this Wednesday, January 26, 7:00 P.M., in Room 110 at the Foster Center. Hope everyone can make it...this is an important meeting to get us started on accomplishing our ideas!!

Here's a summary of the ideas for the Quality of Life 3 part business plan:

1) Develop a welcome package for new residents

Action required:

a) Develop or obtain the information sheets for packet i.e. bus schedule, contact numbers, info on neighborhood groups, map with attractions, etc.

b) Obtain suitable bags to hold info ( suggested Quality Dairy might contribute these)

c) Locate storage for packets

d) Rely on neighborhood recommendations of new residents and/or use realtor/landlord connections in the group i.e. Vince-chair of housing comm. and CJM Properties

e) approach businesses for contributions as part of our 3 part business participation program

2) Develop the "Spotlight Restaurant of the Month" program.

(at Brian McGrain's request we propose changing this to the month rather than week--let me know if you feel strongly we should change it back we couldn't come up with that many places)

Action required:

a) Develop a list for the next 9 months of 9 spotlight establishments

b) post on line and make available at mtgs the list

c) Brian will post when he will be at various places (sort of Where's Waldo thing)

d) contact businesses about their selection for this very prestigious honor and ask for some reciprocity for members i.e. free coffee, 10% off, etc.

3) Work with the R.E. Olds Museum Classic Car Show to develop the Taste of the Eastside during this show

Action required:

a) Develop the list of restaurants to be approached

b) Put them in contact with the committee to see what they would like to do at the festival

c) continue relationship with the car show to support their development of this festival in our neighborhood.

Contacts to businesses are set to begin in February, so, as we discussed at our standing room only meeting earlier this month, we need to divide up some work and have some of this figured out in January. Looking forward to it!
